Preschool Curriculum
Our curriculum is based on the scripture, "Children are a heritage from the Lord." Psalm 127:3. Therefore, our curriculum is designed to minister to these areas in the child's life: spiritual, socially, emotional, mentally and physical, at each child's developmental level.
Research indicates that children learn through hands-on interactions with their environment. In other words, children learn through PLAY. Our programs provide academic opportunities within a creative, nurturing environment. We emphasize the following age appropriate developmental skills:
- Preschool Academics
Emphasizing school readiness and preparedness skills. We focus on recognizing names, letters, numbers, colors, patterns, and shapes. - Small Motor Skills
Developing fine motor skills through cutting with scissors, gluing, lacing, coloring, painting, and different types of art materials. - Large Motor Skills
Developing physical coordination with large muscle activities. A safe, private, outdoor, fenced playground is provided. All outdoor play is closely monitored by teachers. - Classroom Skills
Standing in line, taking turns speaking, sitting in circle time, listening to and following instructions, and being featured as “The Little Miracle of the Day” - Teacher’s Helper! - Social Skills
Focusing each day on how to interact well with classmates and teachers, how to solve problems in a positive way, and how to be thoughtful and courteous to one another. - Communication Skills
Participating in show-n-tell, teacher-led class discussions, and dramatic play time. - Literature Appreciation
Listening to stories and poems, and exploring new books in the classroom library. We also have a lending library and materials may be checked out. - Music Appreciation
Learning new songs and finger plays, and playing rhythm band instruments. We develop tonal concepts (high-low, loud-soft) and rhythmic concepts (fast-slow patterns, repetition, and beat) as well as free expression. - Art Appreciation
Introducing various forms of artistic expression and mixed media. We provide both directed and free-form art projects. - Community Awareness
Introducing community helpers through class studies and field trips. - Awareness of the World Around Us
Exploring and learning about the environment, changing seasons, animals, our country and engaging in simple science discoveries.
